Ride to the Rock

Get ready for a road trip! Hop on a bus with other high school sophomores and juniors from your area and ride to Kansas City for an overnight visit on campus. You’ll tour RU, room in the residence hall with a current Hawk host, learn about KC, financial aid, majors and college life. You'll also have opportunities to hear about Rockhurst athletics, explore extracurricular activities and meet with faculty from your area of academic interest.

Ride to the Rock is one of the best ways to find out if RU is right for you.

Overnight registration costs $35 and includes the cost of transportation, meals, activities and a T-shirt. If you choose to provide your own transportation for the overnight, your registration fee is $25. 

What to Bring

You'll stay overnight in a residence hall with a current Rockhurst student, so here’s what you’ll need to bring:

  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillow
  • Pajamas
  • Bath towel
  • Shower shoes (Flip flops)
  • Toiletries and personal items
  • Change of clothes

Schedule

Sunday, March 18
3 p.m. — Welcome
3:30 p.m. — Campus Tour
5 p.m. — Leave for dinner and tour of Kansas City
8:30 p.m. — Free time with your room host

Monday, March 19
8 a.m. —  Breakfast (optional)
9 a.m. —  Student life panel
10 a.m. — Meetings with faculty
11 a.m. —  Wrap-up
11:30 a.m. — Athletic recruiting Q&A (optional) 
Noon — Pick up lunch and depart

Transportation

Columbia/Jefferson City
You'll depart from McDonald's at I-70 and Highway 63 (Clark Lane) at 12:30 p.m., March 18. The bus will return at 2 p.m., Monday, March 19. The cost is $35.

St. Joseph
You'll depart from McDonald's at 4219 U.S. Highway 169 at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 18. The bus will return at 1 p.m. Monday, March 19. The cost is $35.

Omaha
You'll depart from the Crossroads Mall (72nd and Dodge Street) from the parking lot near Barnes and Noble at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 18. The bus will return between 3:30 and 4 p.m., Monday, March 19. The cost is $35.

St. Louis
You'll depart from the Dillard's Parking lot at Chesterfield Mall (off Highway 40) at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 18. The bus will return on Monday, March 19, between 4 and 4:30 p.m. The cost is $35.

Kansas City & Beyond
Students from any area, including Kansas City, are also welcome to attend. You’ll just need to coordinate your own transportation. Please arrive on campus by 3 p.m. The cost is $25.
