Checklist to Apply for Admission

  1. Completed application for admission. Apply online for free. (When prompted, select the "MS Business Intel & Analytics" application type from the drop down menu.)
  2. Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework evidencing conferral of a bachelor's degree. Electronically submitted transcripts are also accepted and may be sent to Paper and electronic transcripts must come directly from the school to Rockhurst to be accepted as official. Official transcript may be mailed to:

3. Current professional resume and personal statement emailed to The personal statement should be one to two pages in length and describe your educational and professional experience along with your goals related to earning the M.S. in business intelligence and analytics degree. Further education and experience with math, statistics, programming, SQL and databases should be included.

If a candidate has less than three years of professional, full-time experience, then a GMAT or GRE will be requested along with the requirements above.  A GMAT/GRE Waiver option may be available as well.  Please contact the Director of Graduate Business Admission at 816-501-4632 to learn more.

Required prerequisite knowledge includes:

  • Pre-Calculus (fundamentals of linear algebra and calculus is helpful)
  • Programming or Computer Science
  • Introduction to Statistics

Prerequisite knowledge does not necessarily require a college-level course. Work experience is acceptable but the applicant must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the topic areas. 

Prospective students with an introductory knowledge of statistics will take Linear and Multivariate Models, BIA 6309. Students who have earned a degree in math or statistics, work in a statistician's role or have substantial credit hours in statistics will be waived from this class. 

Prospective students with an introductory knowledge of computer science will take Databases for Analytics, BIA 6314. Students who have earned a degree in computer science, work in a programming, a DBA or IT role, or have strong experience in databases, programming languages and SQL will be waived from this class. 

International students must also include:

English translation of any undergraduate or graduate transcripts provided by one of the services below. The translation must by a detailed, course-by-course, U.S. equivalent of credit hours reflecting your cumulative GPA based on a 4.0 scale. It is important that the degree you received is indicated.

  • Affidavit of financial support showing a minimum of $52,000 USD in liquidable assets (Certification from bank(s) or legally binding affidavit of financial support indiciating the student's ability to pay for educational expenses)
  • Copy of Visa
  • Copy of current I-20 (depending on Visa type)
  • Supplemental Information Form For International Students Currently Attending Other U.S. Institutions
  • Official TOEFL score (minimum score of 79). The TOEFL will be waived if you hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from a U.S. college or university or if your medium of instruction was in English.
