About Tom & Harry: The Boss and the President

Tom & Harry: The Boss and the President presents the complex relationship between Harry Truman and Tom Pendergast, boss of the powerful political machine that controlled Kansas City politics in the 1920s and 1930s. This award-winning documentary goes in depth into the history of Harry Truman’s participation in the crime-ridden political machine.

About Terence O’Malley

Terence O’Malley is a popular author and documentary filmmaker born and raised in Kansas City. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Loyola University in New Orleans, a Master of Science in Radio TV and Film from the University of Kansas and a Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law.

O’Malley is a former TV reporter for the Alaska Television Network and former press secretary to the governor of Alaska and to the House of Representatives. Currently, he is the principal attorney at The O’Malley Law Firm KC, where he practices law with his son, Conor.

O’Malley’s other books and documentaries include Nelly Don: A Stitch in Time; Black Hand Strawman: The History of Organized Crime in Kansas City; and Shooting Back in Time: The Kansas City Union Station Massacre.

O’Malley and his wife, Heather, have been married for 33 years and have boy-girl twins. On Friday evenings, he can be heard playing piano at Conroy’s Public House in Overland Park, Kansas. 

All guests will enjoy a wine reception followed by a luncheon and reflection on the documentary.
Cost to attend is $60 per person or $600 for a table of 10. Seating will be limited. Registration will close on April 16.
