His Eminence Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana will explore the “The Plight of Refugees in Today’s World” in his talk for Rockhurst University’s Visiting Scholar Lecture Series. Cardinal Turkson will address the role of the Roman Catholic Church to help ease the current refugee crisis—from its violence to its worldwide political oppression. At the time of his talk, the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development will have just completed its second year under the guidance and leadership of His Eminence Cardinal Turkson--its first prefect. Pope Francis placed Cardinal Turkson at the helm because he had previously served as the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.
