Educational Studies

An education student works with high schoolers on a project

Program Description

The minor in Educational Studies course of study allows students to see the value in better understanding the intersection of education within their major program of study and provides a solid grasp of research-based theories in learning and teaching through reflective practice. The education studies minor offers an interesting and broad introduction to education as a field of study and supports the development of life-long learning. The minor does not result in teacher certification. The minor in Educational Studies requires a total of fifteen (15) credit hours.

Those who decide to switch to a major in education will be required to fulfill all of the School of Education and state of Missouri requirements needed for certification.

The School of Education at Rockhurst University fosters inquiry, intellectual creativity and evidence-based decision making to equip students to face the challenges of our global society and is committed to developing informed citizens and advocates for productive educational environments in a democratic society. Learn more about our state and national accreditation at this link.
