Biography 

Katherine Nicolai, Ph.D., joined the Psychology Department in 1995 after completing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Iowa State University.  Dr. Nicolai teaches classroom-based, online, and hybrid courses including Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Behavior, Psychological Assessment, Psychology of Sexual Behavior, and Psychopathy, among other courses.  Her primary scholarly interests include correlates of beliefs about mental illness and psychopathy, helping non-scientists understand and think critically about behavioral science research, and the effectiveness of teaching methods, particularly in online and hybrid classrooms.
