Biography 

John F. Morris, Ph.D., is a professor of philosophy and the Rev. Joseph M. Freeman, S.J., Chair of Philosophy. His specialties include Aquinas, natural law ethics and medical/bioethics. He has published articles on these topics in a number of journals, including Ethics and Medics, The Modern Schoolman, Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy, OT Practice, as well as the ASHA Leader. In addition, he has written chapters for several philosophy anthologies and edited his own anthology titled, "Medicine, Health Care and Ethics: Catholic Voices" (The Catholic University Press of America, 2007). 

Morris has given more than 100 workshops and presentations on issues related to professional and medical ethics. His professional background has included serving on the American Occupational Therapy Association's Commission on Standards and Ethics (1998-2004), as well as the Ethics and Human Values Committee of St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri (1997-2002; 2009-12; and 2015-present), including being chair from 2011 to 2012, and again since 2016. Morris currently serves as the director for the Office of Catholic Healthcare for the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, and has been on the governing board of St. Joseph Medical Center since 2016. He resides in Overland Park, Kansas, with his wife Carol and sons Michael and Kevin.
