Biography
Janet Spallo-Mitchelson is the director of field experiences and a faculty member in the department of education. She was a teacher and administrator in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph for 34 years prior to coming to Rockhurst University. That prior experience affords her a solid understanding of the knowledge and skills teachers should acquire in their teacher preparation program to positively impact student learning.
Mitchelson facilitates field placements for education students, teaches the seminar course during students' professional semester and teaches special education courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She is also the certification officer for the department of education.
