Biography

Jamie Dyer, Ph.D., obtained her bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After completing her undergraduate studies, Dyer performed her graduate work at the University of Kansas in the laboratory of Erik Lundquist, Ph.D.

Her thesis work involved studying the migration of neurons and the development of neurites in the developing nervous system. After receiving her Ph.D. in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, Dyer completed her postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of Jerry Workman, Ph.D., at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research in Kansas City. During her postdoctoral studies, she studied the functions of myeloid leukemia factor, a protein frequently mutated in patients with acute myeloid leukemia. Upon completing her postdoctoral studies, Dyer joined the department of biology at Rockhurst University as a full-time faculty member in the fall of 2013. She is currently an assistant professor in the department, where she teaches a variety of courses, including General Biology I, Genetics, Biotechnology, and Introduction to Research. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dyer conducts scientific research with undergraduate students focusing on neuronal migration and genes required for viability.
