Where RU Can Take You

RU partners with distinguished organizations, both locally and nationally, to give students hands-on experience through internships and a competitive advantage upon graduating. Examples of partner organizations include the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Heart to Heart International, Junior League, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Special Olympics and the YMCA, just to name a few.

With the powerful combination of internship experience, rigorous curriculum and world-class faculty, the nonprofit leadership studies program at RU helps students build the framework for impactful careers as nonprofit leaders.

Internship Program

Each degree-seeking student completes an internship with a nonprofit organization. This supervised learning experience provides an in-depth opportunity to learn firsthand about the host organization and the roles and responsibilities of its staff and volunteer leadership.

Nonprofit Leadership Student Association

Students have the additional opportunity to build their résumés, gain valuable experience and network through the Nonprofit Leadership Student Association. This student organization meets regularly
for professional development opportunities, service projects and fundraising activities.
