Holocaust Remembrance Day – Yom HaShoah
In a spirit of solemn remembrance, Rockhurst University invites you to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day – Yom HaShoah. The Midwest Center for Holocaust Education and Rockhurst University hope this day of reflection will encourage prayerful contemplation and compassionate action on the relevance of the Holocaust in today’s society. Seeking to honor the memories of all those who suffered, those who were killed and those who survived the Holocaust, the day's events include:
- Rockhurst students, faculty, staff and members of the Kansas City community will read aloud of the names of all those killed by the Nazi regime, including 152 Jesuits. This will be held on the Kinerk Commons from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Prayer service, which includes the Ayl Mahlay Rachamim by Hazzan Ben-Yehuda (Beth Shalom), selections from Rockhurst University’s choir and Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy’s choir featuring Rabbi Jeffrey Shron (Kehilath Israel Synagogue). This will be held in the Finucane Jesuit Center (lower level of Greenlease Library) 2:30 – 3 p.m.
