Visiting Scholar Lecture Series - Kristin Heyer, Ph.D., Discusses Immigration

Thursday, March 23, 2017 - 7:30pm
Arrupe Hall Auditorium

Few topics generate more heated exchanges than immigration’s role in America’s future. Moreover, few topics have been so thoroughly addressed in modern Roman Catholic discourse. Kristin Heyer, professor of theology at Boston College and author of Kinship Across Borders: A Christian Ethic of Immigration will deliver this year’s Rev. William L. Rossner, S.J., Lecture in Theology. In her lecture "Civic Kinship: A Christian Ethic for an Era of Migration" Heyer will explore of the root causes of immigration.  She taps Catholic social tradition to counter the dominant, instrumentalist framework of the immigration debate and offers a counter-narrative of civic kinship.
