Rockhurst University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Theology & Religious Studies. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. by time of appointment in August 2017 and be able to teach an Introduction to World Religions course. We are looking for candidates with research specialization in Judaism or Islam, with the ability to teach elective courses in the tradition of their specialization as well as teach an elective survey course in the other tradition. Candidates should have their primary training in religious studies or theology, and be well-versed in theoretical questions facing the academic study of religion. Responsibilities involve a 3/3 teaching load, participation in departmental and university service, as well as scholarship. Preference given to candidate with evidence of effective teaching and demonstrated commitment to scholarly activity. THE COLLEGE and DEPARTMENT: The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) offers a variety of graduate, undergraduate and certificate programs and is one of four schools at Rockhurst University. The department of Physical Therapy is committed to preparing physical therapists that value and use the scientific evidence integrated with a caring and compassionate approach to optimize movement and improve the life experiences for persons whose abilities are threatened or impaired due to developmental deficits, aging, physical illness or injury. More than 99% of the Rockhurst Physical Therapy graduates have passed the national licensure exam in the last ten years. 100% passed in 2015. Physical Therapy accreditation has been recently reaffirmed. The next visit is scheduled to occur sometime in 2025.
THE PT CHAIR: The Chair of the Physical Therapy department must be a dynamic leader who is able to continue to facilitate and advance Rockhurst University's Physical Therapy Education program's strong reputation and impact on the community and profession. The person assuming this 12 month position will be responsible for teaching; engaging in scholarship; mentoring faculty; participating in service; and overseeing departmental operations. The ability to continue to practice as a physical therapist exists.
An earned academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.);
Must be eligible for licensure as a PT in the state of Missouri;
Brings a history of academic achievements in teaching, scholarship and service as a full-time faculty member (minimum of five years of experience);
Qualified to be appointed to the rank of associate professor, professor, clinical associate professor, or clinical professor;
A minimum of six years of higher education experience in a physical therapist education program; and
An ability and willingness to teach courses in her/his area of clinical or research expertise.
A history of program leadership, program development, and curriculum development experience;
An ongoing research agenda that includes grant funding and publication;
A current understanding of trends and changes in the health care field; and
An understanding of and appreciation for the Jesuit tradition and for Catholic higher education.
